Understand your communication pattern. Handle difficult conversations more effectively.

THAT MOMENT AFTER THE CONVERSATION

“I had something to say.
I said nothing.”
“I spoke up.
But not how I intended.”

Different experiences. A useful question in common: what was happening in that moment?

WHEN THE MOMENT HAS PASSED

The conversation ends. The thinking doesn’t.

It isn’t always about speaking more. It may be about speaking when it matters, expressing something differently or understanding why certain interactions are difficult.

01

“I repeatedly avoid raising concerns.”

You want to raise important issues earlier, rather than replaying what you left unsaid.

02

“I become defensive when challenged.”

You want to stay engaged with questions or feedback, without immediately feeling the need to defend yourself.

03

“I struggle to express disagreement.”

You want to share a different view without unnecessarily escalating tension.

04

“I sometimes come across more strongly than intended.”

You want your point to be understood without the way you express it becoming the problem.

WHAT A BETTER UNDERSTANDING ADDS

“Just be more confident” is rarely enough information to begin.

Two people can hold back in the same meeting for very different reasons. And the same person may speak freely in one situation but struggle in another.

YOU MIGHT SAY

“I never speak up when I disagree.”

A MORE USEFUL QUESTION

What is it about those conversations that changes how you respond?

It may involve expectations, interpersonal tendencies, the authority in the room or how disagreement is handled. We need to examine what fits your situation, rather than assume a single cause.

QUESTIONS WORTH EXPLORING

  1. 01When do you find it easiest to share a different view?
  2. 02What do you anticipate might happen if you speak?
  3. 03What is different about the people, expectations or setting?

THE VALUE OF THE DISTINCTION A useful next step depends on what is actually maintaining the pattern.

Illustrative example only. These are possible questions, not a finding about you or a result from an assessment.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

Insight that is about your situation. Not another list of communication tips.

Speak Up at Work brings together your real workplace examples, a relevant Clevry questionnaire and Gerrit’s professional interpretation.

The intention is a clearer understanding of a recurring communication pattern and one practical change to explore.

01

Start with your situation

Answer five context questions about your recurring difficulty, a recent example, what you have tried and what you want to change.

02

Complete the questionnaire

Complete a focused Clevry questionnaire measuring relevant work-related tendencies, with its scale configuration verified for the version in use.

03

Receive a professionally reviewed report

Receive an approximately five-page report linking relevant assessment findings to your actual situation, reviewed and approved by Gerrit before release.

04

Make sense of the findings together

Use 30 minutes of private online feedback to test the interpretation, explore alternative explanations and prepare for a specific real-world interaction.

05

Leave with an action plan

After feedback, receive a one-page plan setting out the behaviour to try, where to apply it and what observable change to look for.

INSIDE THE REPORT

A pattern becomes useful when you can recognise it in real life.

Your report is designed to bring the assessment back to the particular conversations you want to handle differently.

It explores relevant tendencies, possible explanations and what you could try, while making room for alternative explanations and the conditions of your work.

It does not give you a “speaking up score”, label you a good or bad communicator or judge another person.

The example is fictional and illustrates the proposed report experience. No assessment was administered and no actual result is shown.

SPEAK UP AT WORK

From a difficult moment to a useful question.

THE SITUATION

“I notice a problem in meetings, but often raise it only after everyone has agreed.”

A QUESTION TO EXPLORE

Does it become harder to contribute when the discussion moves quickly or when the decision-maker is present?

AN EXPERIMENT TO DISCUSS

Choose one upcoming meeting and prepare a single question that brings your concern into the discussion earlier.

IS THIS THE RIGHT START?

A recurring pattern, not just one difficult conversation.

SPEAK UP AT WORK FITS WHEN

You are an employed professional or newly appointed manager who recognises a recurring pattern in your own communication and wants to change it. The focus is on your tendencies and the conditions in which they show up, not on fixing or rating a difficult colleague.

A PRIVATE CONSULTATION FITS BETTER WHEN

You need to navigate a particular situation: a disciplinary threat, a decision about resigning, a complex conflict or an important meeting tomorrow. Those situations need individual professional judgement, not an automatic assessment route.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

A few useful answers.

Is this just an online personality test?

No. The questionnaire is one source of information. The experience also includes your context, Gerrit’s professional review, a private feedback conversation and an agreed action plan.

What if the report doesn’t sound like me?

That matters. The report offers interpretations to examine, not fixed labels. Your feedback session is an opportunity to test the explanations, discuss counterexamples and change what does not fit.

Can this help me change a difficult colleague’s behaviour?

No. Speak Up at Work examines your own recurring communication tendencies in context. It cannot assess or change someone else’s behaviour. If the central problem is a particular colleague, an employment conflict or a difficult decision, a private consultation may be the better starting point.

When will I receive my report and feedback?

Complete the context questions and assessment first. Your results then require professional review before the report is released and your feedback session is arranged. Timing and available sessions will be explained in the purchase and onboarding process.

Will I receive a final action plan?

Yes. The report provides proposals for discussion. After your 30-minute feedback conversation, you receive a concise, one-page plan reflecting the action you agree to explore.

Can this be used to rate me at work?

No. This is individual, work-focused development. It is not an assessment for selection, disciplinary decisions or a measurement of communication competence. Sharing information with an employer requires an appropriate separate agreement.

Is this therapy, and is my information confidential?

This is developmental assessment and coaching, not psychotherapy, crisis care or medical treatment. Information is handled under applicable privacy and professional confidentiality obligations, including legal limits. The consent and privacy arrangements will be explained before your assessment.

How do payment, cancellation and rescheduling work?

This is a one-time US$97 purchase. The applicable payment, cancellation, rescheduling and refund conditions will be displayed in the actual checkout and booking process.

YOUR NEXT CONVERSATION

You can’t rewrite the last conversation. You can prepare for the next one differently.

Start by understanding what tends to happen for you, then explore one practical change worth trying.
